GENERAL INFORMATION (Passport)

Important points

To apply for the Passport Services at the Mission/Consulate in Germany, it is necessary to fill up the application online (http://passport.gov.in/nri/Online.do ). We do not accept handwritten passport application form.

No prior appointment is required. The passport application can be submitted by post or in person at the Consulate on any working day between 0930 to 1230 hours.

There is no issue of passport under Tatkal scheme.

All Passports will be issued only after verifying credentials of the applicants.

Consular surcharge of Euro 2.00 shall be levied on all consular services.

Size of the photograph should be 50 mm x 50 mm.

Payment is accepted in cash/debit card at the counter only.

For postal applications, payment should be made by bank transfer only as per the bank details ( NO CASH IS ACCEPTED BY POST).

For postal delivery of new passports, please attach a self-addressed and stamped (Euro 4.05) medium sized envelope

New passport can be issued one year before expiry of current passport.

All Applicants must mention their valid e-mail ID and Telephone number on the application form.

Applicants can either submit the original passport for cancellation at the time of submission of the application or at the time of collection of the new passport.

Incorrect and incomplete application forms will not be processed

Applicants are required to fill up the relevant fields from Sl. No. 7 to 29 wherever necessary.

Transit passengers / Tourists whose passport is lost/damaged will be issued only Machine-Readable Passport. Issuance of Machine-Readable Passport may take minimum of 15 working days. Under no circumstances handwritten passports will be issued. Transit passengers / Tourists whose passport is lost/damaged and returning to India can be issued an Emergency Certificate (handwritten), if they desire so.

1. Re-issue of passport on completion of validity of current passport/exhaustion of pages

Note: While filling the application form it may be noted that the field ‘INDIAN MISSION’ will always be Germany-Munich. The field ‘SERVICE DESIRED’ will be RE-ISSUE OF PASSPORT. The field ‘ADDRESS TO BE PRINTED IN PASSPORT’ should always contain the address as printed on the Current passport. If there is any change of address, proof of address may be furnished as described on the last page of this document. For any other changes appropriate proof may be provided. They shall be accepted only on the satisfaction of the Consular Officer. After printing out the application form please fill in the additional details as per requirement (Sl. No.7 to 29

2. Re-issue of passport for splitting name/inclusion of spouse name

Note: While filling the application form it may be noted that the field ‘INDIAN MISSION’ will always be Germany-Munich. The field ‘SERVICE DESIRED’ will be RE-ISSUE OF PASSPORT. The field ‘ADDRESS TO BE PRINTED IN PASSPORT’ should always contain the address as printed on the Current passport. If there is any change of address, proof of address may be furnished as described on the last page of this document. For any other changes appropriate proof may be provided. They shall be accepted only on the satisfaction of the Consular Officer. After printing out the application form please fill in the additional details as per requirement (Sl. No.7 to 29).

3. Re-issue of passport in lieu of lost or damaged passport

(Applicant has to come in person at the Consulate)

Note: While filling the application form it may be noted that the field ‘INDIAN MISSION’ will always be Germany-Munich. The field ‘SERVICE DESIRED’ will be NEW PASSPORT IN LIEU DAMAGED/LOST PASSPORT. The field ‘ADDRESS TO BE PRINTED IN PASSPORT’ should always contain the address as printed on the Current passport. If there is any change of address, proof of address may be furnished as described on the last page of this document. For any other changes appropriate proof may be provided. They shall be accepted only at the counter on the satisfaction of the Consular Officer. For change of signature, the application form needs to be signed at the counter in front of the Consular Officer. After printing out the application form please fill in the additional details as per and where necessary.

Photocopy of the lost passport (first page and last page). Passport in original in case of damaged passport

Police report, in original, for the lost passport containing the lost passport number.

Letter from Auslaenderbehoerde stating reason for stay permit (for persons whose passport does not contain valid visa for Germany).

An Affidavit regarding loss of passport/damaged passport.

(In case of frequent loss/damage of passport, additional penalty will be separately charged and decided on a case to case basis).

Copy of Visa/Aufenthaltstitel (Residence permit)

Self-Explanatory Letter (specifying the circumstances how the passport was lost/damaged.

Normal Passport Fee (36 pages) - EUR 112 (Euro 110 + Euro 2.00)

Jumbo Passport Fee (60 pages) - EUR 127 (Euro 125+ Euro 2.00)

Fee can be paid by cash/debit card at the counter only.

Application can be submitted at the Counter on any working day between 0930 and 1230 hrs. without any appointment.

4. Passport for children below 18 years of age

Note: While filling the application form it may be noted that the field ‘INDIAN MISSION’ will always be Germany-Munich. The field ‘SERVICE DESIRED’ will be ‘PASSPORT FOR CHILDREN UPTO 15 YEARS OF AGE’. The field ‘ADDRESS TO BE PRINTED IN PASSPORT’ should always contain the address as printed on the Current passport. If there is any change of address, proof of address may be furnished as described on the last page of this document. For any other changes appropriate proof may be provided. They shall be accepted only at the counter on the satisfaction of the Consular Officer. For change of signature, the application form needs to be signed at the counter in front of the Consular Officer. After printing out the application form please fill in the additional details as per requirement.

Note: The passport will be valid for five years.

Fee - EUR 42, 00 (Eur 40.00 + Eur 2.00)

Fee can be paid by cash/debit card at the counter only. Postal applicants are required to transfer the fee and attach the transfer slip with the application.

 

For Children above 15 and below 18 years will be issued full validity for 10 years and the fee to be paid is Euro 62,00 (Euro 60 + Euro 2)

 

Application can be submitted either at the Counter on any working day between 0930 and 1230 hrs. without any appointment or sent by post.

 

5. Fresh passport to a newborn child

(At least one of the parents must be present at the Consulate)

 

Note: While filling the application form it may be noted that the field ‘INDIAN MISSION’ will always be Germany-Munich. The field ‘SERVICE DESIRED’ will be FRESH PASSPORT. The field ‘ADDRESS TO BE PRINTED IN PASSPORT’ should contain the address as printed on the current passport of either parent. If there is any change of address, proof of address may be furnished as described on the last page of this document. For any other changes appropriate proof may be provided. They shall be accepted only at the counter on the satisfaction of the Consular Officer. For change of signature, the application form needs to be signed at the counter in front of the Consular Officer. After printing out the application form please fill in the additional details as per requirement.

Birth certificate in original along with its copy

 

Attested marriage certificate of parents.

Original passports of parents along with its self-attested copies (first and last pages)

Self-attested copies of parents' passports and residence permits / visas

Letter from German authorities confirming that the child has not been issued any German document or declaration by parents

Child’s presence at the consulate is not mandatory. At least one of the parents should come to the Consulate in person for submitting the application.

For a child born in Germany to be registered as an Indian citizen the application must be made within one year of the child's birth on the prescribed form. At least one of the child's parents must be an Indian citizen at the time of applying. Enclose passports of both parents and a full version birth certificate of the child with photocopies of the birth certificate along with the application. In case more than one year has elapsed since the birth of child, an affidavit needs to be submitted stating that the child has not acquired German nationality. Local authorities should also confirm non-acquisition of German Nationality by the child. In case more than seven years have elapsed since the birth of the child, the matter would have to be referred to relevant authorities in India. The passport issued will be valid for five years.

Fee - EUR 38, 00 (Eur 36.00+ Eur 2.00) + EUR 27, 00 (Eur 25.00+ Eur 2.00) – Birth Registration Certificate.

Fee can be paid by cash/debit card at the counter only.

Application can be submitted at the Counter on any working day between 0930 and 1230 hrs. without any appointment.

6. Re-issue of passport due to change in appearance

(Applicant has to come in person at the Consulate)

Note: While filling the application form it may be noted that the field ‘INDIAN MISSION’ will always be Germany-Munich. The field ‘SERVICE DESIRED’ will be RE-ISSUE OF PASSPORT. The field ‘ADDRESS TO BE PRINTED IN PASSPORT’ should always contain the address as printed on the Current passport. If there is any change of address, proof of address may be furnished as described on the last page of this document. For any other changes appropriate proof may be provided. They shall be accepted only at the counter on the satisfaction of the Consular Officer. 7. Re-issue of passport due to change of name after marriage, remarriage or divorce.

(Applicant with spouse has to come in person at the Consulate)

The field ‘ADDRESS TO BE PRINTED in PASSPORT’ should always contain the address as printed on the Current passport. Self-declaration in case of separated/divorced persons. The passport application form does not require the applicant to provide the name of his/her spouse in case of separated or divorced persons. Such applicants need not provide Divorce Decree.

For going back to maiden name because of death of spouse/divorce, death certificate/divorce decree needed.
