Invitation to Indian Diaspora to celebrate Pravasi Bhartiya Divas in Munich on 9th January, 2016

1. Indian diaspora consisting of NRI/PIOs may be aware that the Government of India has been annually celebrating the Pravasi Bhartiya Divas (PBD) over the last several years to increasingly engage with the successful and vibrant Indian diaspora spread all over the world.

2. We are pleased to inform the diaspora that Government of India has now decided to celebrate PBD 2016 overseas through the Indian Missions/ Posts abroad. Accordingly, the Consulate would like to cordially invite interested persons from Indian Associations/ Organizations/ Universitys/ Institutes, etc from the States of Bavaria and Baden Wurttemberg to the celebrations of the Pravasi Bhartiya Divas at the Consulate, located at Widenmayerstrasse 15, 80538 Munich, on Saturday, 9th January, 2016 at 1700 hrs. The event would be chaired by Consul General, Mr M. Sevala Naik who would oversee the proceedings that would end with a networking session over Indian snacks and drinks.

3. During this event, the Consulate would like to engage with the Indian diaspora in the region, recognize and appreciate their efforts in furthering India's interests and image abroad and seek their valuable suggestions and ideas on the potential of the involvement of the diaspora in some important themes such as:

i) GOI Flagship programmes (Smart Cities, Renewable Energy, Make in India, Digital India, Skill India, etc)

ii) Diaspora transferring Knowledge and encouraging Innovations (Science & Technology, Education, Start up India)

iii) Role of diaspora Community organizations (in identifying and assisting Indians in distress, helping Embassy/ Consulate to reach such persons, facilitating identification of deceased Indians and repatriation of their mortal remains to India, etc)
